of gil.
At Levels 3-5 you will still probably be outside the city (I don t recommend going into the
other areas until you are Level 5.) You will now be strong enough to face Carrion Worms
and Cheval Pugils, and at night Ding Bats. Ding Bats have high evasion and can deal
some serious damage if you decide to face them at Level 3. If you are a melee class like
the WAR they take a long, long time to kill and I would stick with the worms and Pugils. I
generally wait until Level 4-5 before facing Ding Bats or Pugils. Cheval Pugils are
aggroed by fishing in East Ronfaure only. They are weak against ice and lightning and
tend to drop more high-priced items than worms and bats. Now is the time to raise your
fishing skill high enough so that you can catch Pugils, because you will be needing all the
gil you can get your hands on soon enough.
At Levels 6-10 you can descend into the uppermost level of King Ranperre s Tomb or
head to the Gheselba Outpost (giving you a chance to do a supplies quest as well while
you are levelling. Supplies quests give you conquest points, which in turn can be traded
for items and scrolls of Warp and Reraise.) You will be facing Mouse Bats, which can
deal a large amount of melee damage and have high evasion. They only come out at
night, and I would avoid them until Level 7. The next type of enemy you will be facing are
Goblin Thugs, which don t have the magical attacks of other Goblins but do an ability
called Bomb Toss which can deal up to 35 HP damage. On the bright side, this is a
suicide ability for the Goblin Thug and if you can survive the Bomb Toss you will have won
the battle. Goblins are the most likely mobs in the game to link, so unless you re prepared
to fight two at a time be very, very careful. At night you will sometimes encounter Undead
mobs known as Enchanted Bones, who have either BLM or WAR jobs. They do not have
particularly high HP, but the BLM Enchanted Bones can do some spells that will hurt you
as a Ninja (Silence, Paralyze) so use caution and do not face them until you are about
Level 7-8.

Final Fantasy XI Ninja Guide
Bastok, land of the Humes is a hard place to start out, full of harsh deserts and harsher
monsters. Be careful not to aggro any enemies before you reach the advanced stages of
levelling and you will do well. Leveling in Bastok is also, paradoxically, the easiest of all
the areas in the game because the learning curve of the mobs you face is steep and
Bastok has more mob variety than Windurst and San D oria, enabling you to make money
faster. If you are in a hurry to level up your Ninja Bastok is the place to be. If you begin in
Bastok a job where you can deal magic damage is essential because of the general
aggression and difficulty of the mobs in this nation. RDM or BLM is the only way to go.
At Levels 1-3 you will be facing Huge Hornets, which do not do the Final Sting ability of
their more advanced counterparts but occasionally use Pollen, and ability which will
restore their HP. You will also be facing Tunnel Worms and Ding Bats, which were
discussed previously. Do not confuse Tunnel Worms with their more difficult cousins, the
Stone Eaters, which at this level are much too hard for the average player. The Ding Bats
in Bastok are easier than those you will encounter in San D oria but the warnings still
apply.
At Levels 3-5 you will begin to face Stone Eaters, which will do Stone against you if you
attempt to attack them with magic before melee. You can also fight Vultures which can do
up to 20 HP damage with their Helldive ability and have high AGI, which translates into
superior evasion. I won t lie to you in the early stages of the game Vultures killed me
more than any other mob in Bastok. I don t recommend fighting them until you re Level 5.
Strolling Saplings may put you to sleep with their Slumber Powder, but the bonus is they
have low HP. Rock Lizards are probably the most dangerous mob at this stage of the
game because of their Stone Gaze ability, which petrifies you. For a Ninja, being
paralysed can be disastrous, so if you are planning to kill a Rock Lizard solo, do it fast and
get away before they have a chance to use Stone Gaze and paralyse you. At Level 5 you
may want to begin making forays against Quadavs, the Amber and Amethyst varieties of
which can cast Dia, Blind, Poison and Banish. Banish is EXTREMELY bad to get hit with
at Level 5, so be careful when choosing which Quadavs to attack. Young Quadavs are
probably all you want to tangle with at this stage because of their lack of magic. Quadavs [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
